Overview
BugTraceAI is an open-source agentic security testing tool. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data is (and isn’t) collected when you use BugTraceAI or visit our website.
BugTraceAI Software
BugTraceAI runs entirely on your local machine or your own self-hosted infrastructure. We want to be clear about the following:
- No data is sent to BugTraceAI servers. All scan results, reports, and findings remain on your machine.
- API keys are stored locally. Your OpenRouter API key and any other credentials are stored in your local configuration and are never transmitted to BugTraceAI.
- No telemetry or usage tracking. The software does not phone home or send analytics of any kind.
- Scan results stay with you. We have no access to your targets, findings, or any output produced by the tool.
Website (bugtraceai.com)
Our website uses basic analytics to understand visitor traffic (page views, referral sources). Specifically:
- We do not use cookies for tracking purposes.
- We do not collect personal information through the website beyond what is voluntarily provided.
- Standard web server logs may record IP addresses and user agents as part of normal operations.
Open Source & GitHub
As an open-source project hosted on GitHub, the only personal data we may have access to is what GitHub provides in the normal course of open-source collaboration (e.g., usernames, profile information, and contributions associated with issues, pull requests, and commits). This data is governed by GitHub’s Privacy Statement.
Third-Party Services
BugTraceAI integrates with third-party AI providers (such as OpenRouter) at the user’s discretion. Your use of these services is governed by their respective privacy policies. BugTraceAI does not act as an intermediary for any data sent to these providers — all communication happens directly from your machine.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above and published to this wiki.
